Insect Control South Lakes - Lancaster and Morecambe, Domestic and CommercialInsect Control South Lakes - Lancaster and Morecambe, Domestic and Commercial

SC Pest Management provides treatments to seasonal insects such as wasps and ants, to all year round insects such as fleas, cockroaches and stored product insects (SPI).

ANTS

Premises are usually invaded by worker ants foraging for food, especially sweet foods. We will treat ants with gels and sprays depending on the location of the nest.

COCKROACHES

The two most common types of cockroaches are the German Cockroach and the Oriental Cockroach. Cockroaches carry a huge host of diseases and multiply rapidly in favourable conditions. They often go unnoticed until they become seen during the day, which is indicative of a serious infestation as they are predominately a nocturnal insect. Cockroaches rely on water and warmth and this encourages their presence behind freezers, fridges and cookers. These areas are often undisturbed and there is adequate food debris and water supply at hand. An integrated programme of sticky traps, spray treatments and cockroach gel will be employed to ensure no further outbreaks.

FLEAS

Fleas lay eggs in bedding materials of pets or on the pets themselves. A single female may produce 800-1000 eggs in one life time, which can be as long as two years. The larvae thrive on organic matter and adult flea excrement. At any one time a cat bed can host an infestation of 8000 immature (eggs, larvae) and 2000 mature adult fleas. A thorough treatment to all floor and fabric areas is required. We use the most up to date insecticides with hormone growth regulators to eradicate and break the lifecycle of the insect

FLIES

Fruit Flies are very small and only 2-3mm long. Female fruit flies lay their eggs on the surface of rotting fruits and vegetables, and each female can lay up to 500 eggs in a batch. Flies are notorious for spreading disease by contaminating food and food preparation surfaces, hereby causing food poisoning. Infestations can develop very quickly, as they are able to lay eggs and multiply extremely quickly. Preventative techniques work best to control flies including ensuring high levels of hygiene at all times, and making sure that all food is covered to prevent flies from laying their eggs.

When flies are present, fly screens and fly control units (EFK's), can help to control the fly population. Where there is a major outbreak of flies has developed, the source of the infestation (where accessible) will need to be removed, and the area sprayed with an insecticide.

Insect Control South Lakes Cluster Fly

Cluster Flies (pictured) inhabit roof spaces between September through to March. The adults lay the eggs externally in flowerbeds and compost heaps. When colder weather arrives they seek shelter to hibernate over winter in roof voids and cavities. Thousands can accumulate leaving householders devastated in early spring when the flies decide to vacate the roof spaces and invade the living areas of the properties. We carry out an insecticidal fogging treatment to the loft space.

SC pest Management can provide competitive quotes from the supply of and service of fly control units.
